Questions and Answers

Will there be captions available for the keynote and panel discussions?

Yes, real time auto-captioning will be available (via Microsoft PowerPoint).

Will there be a quiet space near workshop events?

Yes, there are quiet “nooks” and/or rooms available where folks can get away from the hustle and bustle of the event. These are also spaces for prayer, meditation, or personal reflection.

What options are available for those with dietary restrictions?

The catered lunch on Saturday will have vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options available for attendees. The welcome reception will similarly have various options. For folks who would like to sample the great food Madison has to offer there are many restaurants nearby in the State Street/Capitol Square area, including vegetarian, halal, and kosher options.

In what part of campus will the event be held?

Our event will take place in and around the area of campus marked in blue on the map below: Roughly from Langdon St. to Johnson St, and Park St to Frances.

Please note that during the winter months the University works to keep campus pathways and sidewalks clear, but at times they may have snow and/or ice in limited spots.

Is it safe to walk around? How else can I get around?

Yes, campus and the downtown area of Madison are generally very safe. Keep in mind if you plan to walk for any distances to bring warm clothing – it can get quite chilly in the winter, near the lakes especially!

The bus system is also a great way to get around while you’re here. You can find more information about the buses at Madison Metro: https://www.cityofmadison.com/metro. Their website has a trip planner, but Google maps works great too. Each ride is $2, or you can buy a $5 day pass from the driver if you would prefer.

If the above does not meet your accessibility needs, please reach out to either Megan Zahay (zahay@wisc.edu) or Allyson Gross (aagross2@wisc.edu) so that we can better support your participation in the event.
